During the past two days we discussed and drove …

☑️ target vision and timelines of our demonstrators
☑️ all project partners to catch up on upcoming events and focus topics
☑️ End-to-End Security kick off as the foundation of trust and resilience within Semiconductor-X and Manufacturing-X eco-system.

Additionally we spent time for many chats and also good dinner together.

Scale-MX Congress Hannover – A View from the Semiconductor Perspective

The 2nd SCALE-MX Congress demonstrated: Data spaces are the key to resilient supply chains. Using the example of the semiconductor industry’s supply chain, the SEMICONDUCTOR-X project presented approaches for the digitalisation of supply chains in the semiconductor industry:

✅ Establishment of a sovereign data ecosystem
✅ Use of digital twins for planning and transparency
✅ Interoperability through data spaces and Tractus-X

Exciting discussions about standards, international cooperation, and the path to the Digital Product Passport made it clear: Digital transformation is not optional – it is essential.

This week, speakers from politics, business, and science will meet to discuss and exchange information on important topics such as Europe’s digital sovereignty, taking into account shared data and AI ecosystems, digital infrastructure, and the resilience and competitiveness of German industry.

In addition to support from representatives of the SEMICONDUCTOR-X project, one of our project partners will also be making an active contribution to the congress on a very important topic: Haris Avgoustinos from EXPO21XX will be moderating a workshop on End2End security together with Michael Jochem!

Von Silos zu Ökosystemen – Europa als digital-industrielle Kraft

In dieser Woche treffen sich Speaker aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft, um sich über wichtige Themen wie die digitale Souveränität Europas unter Betrachtung der gemeinsamen Daten- und KI-Ökosysteme, digitale Infrastruktur sowie die Resilienz und Wettbewerbsstärke der deutschen Industrie zu informieren und auszutauschen.

Neben der Begleitung durch Vertreter des Projekts SEMICONDUCTOR-X wird es auch einen aktiven Beitrag zum Kongress von einem unserer Projektpartner zu einem sehr wichtigen Thema geben: Haris Avgoustinos von EXPO21XX wird gemeinsam mit Michael Jochem einen Workshop zum Thema End2End-Security moderieren!

Mit über 200 Teilnehmenden vor Ort, 250 Livestream-Zuschauer:innen und 30 inspirierenden Sessions war die Green ICT Connect 2025 ein voller Erfolg!

Im Fokus standen Energieeffizienz, Dekarbonisierung und Ökobilanzierung – und die Frage, wie Forschung und Wirtschaft gemeinsam nachhaltige Lösungen für die IKT- und Elektronikbranche entwickeln können.

Unser Projekt SEMICONDUCTOR-X war von Joachim Reinhart (HQ Dielectrics GmbH) mit dem Vortrag „Projekt Semiconductor X: Ökobilanzierung und KI-gestützte CO₂-Optimierung der Plasmaoxidation als Prozessschritt in der Halbleiterproduktion“ vertreten.

Im Rahmen des Vortrags wurde auch Semiconductor X als Teil der Manufacturing-X – Initiative vorgestellt: Ziel des Projekts ist es, die Digitalisierung und Nachhaltigkeit in der Halbleiterfertigung voranzutreiben. Gemeinsam mit Partnern aus Industrie und Forschung – darunter Intel Corporation, Bosch, mehreren Instituten der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft sowie KMU wie HQ-Dielectrics GmbH entwickelt SEMICONDUCTOR-X Lösungen für Industriespezifische Anwendungscluster, die von nachhaltiger Prozesstechnologie über digitale Zwillinge bis zu resilienten Lieferketten reichen.

Im weiteren zeigte der Vortrag, wie sich am Beispiel der Plasmaoxidation die CO₂-Bilanz entlang der Halbleiterproduktion systematisch erfassen, bewerten und optimieren lässt.

We are delighted to announce that SEMICONDUCTOR-X will be represented at the SCALE-MX Congress with a presentation on October 8, 2025. Besides a short overview with our use cases from our clusters 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗡𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 and 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 we will give a current status about the current progress and next steps in our mission to build resilience by digitalising the semiconductor value chain.

Another step towards jointly creating open standards for the industry of tomorrow.

As already shared on Monday August 11th the team of the project presented their results for Milestone 2 in a midterm presentation sharing our status and results. We were honored to welcome delegates from the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy and VDI Technologiezentrum the 300mm Fab of our host Bosch.
The meeting ended on a high note with a visit to the clean room of Bosch’s fab, which provided an impressive insight into chip manufacturing and the production processes involved. 🚀

Thank you to all partners and visitors for the constructive exchange and continued support. This milestone underscores our strong partnership across public and industry stakeholders and marks a decisive point for the project in the transition from the conceptual phase to the implementation phase. 👏

The SEMICONDUCTOR-X consortia held its midterm presentation for “Milestone 2” on Monday August 11th and we shared our status and results to BMWE Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie and VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH in Dresden

💥 Thanks to Bosch and Octavio Trovarelli for hosting this midterm meeting in the Bosch 300mm Fab.

Starting with a Welcome from Harald Gossner and Ernst Stöckl-Pukall in the beginning and an overview on Bosch in Dresden by Octavio we straight moved to our project review and achievements:

2️⃣ Progress and Achievements of our 3 clusters and corresponding use cases
3️⃣ Outlook on now starting AP4 for demonstrators by Franz Wenninger
4️⃣ Key achievements of Semiconductor-X within Manufacturing-X network (AP5) shared by Dirk Reichelt and key progress of project reach-out and communication (AP6) presented by Stefan Benedikt
5️⃣ Highlight finally to share a vision on dataspaces and an outlook for the bigger picture by Haris Avgoustinos
