From #RawMaterial to #FinishedProduct – Cross Data Ecosystem Communication in Action

Together with Chem-X Projekt and Decide4ECO we showcase that a seamless data flow between different data ecosystems is practically feasible.
▶️ Automated. Standardised. Ready for real-world decisions.

#Demonstrator: Our Cross Data Ecosystem Demonstrator makes it tangible – PCF data is transferred along the supply chain from a raw material supplier to a chip manufacturer on to an OEM.
👉 A Digital Material Passport (#DMP) is provided by Chem-X
👉 In SEMICONDUCTOR-X, all Product Carbon Footprint values – including DMP data – are consolidated across the entire semiconductor manufacturing process
☑️ The resulting PCF data of a produced chip is then made available to Decide4Eco for further applications, such as the production of a HiFi headphone
☑️ All data is exchanged in a standardized format using the Asset Administration Shell (AAS)

Prof. Dirk Reichelt from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden sums it up:
“Seamless cross data ecosystem communication is the key to efficient data exchange along complex supply chains. The demonstrator showcases such integration across multiple Manufacturing-X projects – securing the interoperability and resilience of global value chains.”

This demonstrator goes beyond a standard proof-of-concept: Behind the scenes, two independent operating companies — HTW Dresden and Smart Systems Hub — each with their own onboarded participants, enable true data exchange across multiple data ecosystems, reflecting real-world industrial complexity.

Cross-ecosystem data exchange is no longer a promise. Come see the proof

#Demonstrator: #Traceability in Semiconductor #SupplyChains 🔍

A defect is detected ☑️

But can you really answer:
👉 Where does it originate?
👉 Which exact units are affected?
👉 And which partners need to be informed?

In today’s semiconductor supply chains, #production is highly distributed across multiple partners.
Traceability often ends at company boundaries, data is fragmented, and component relationships are incomplete – making root cause analysis slow and uncertain.

Our Traceability Demonstrator in SEMICONDUCTOR-X addresses this by establishing a continuous digital thread from wafer to module across the entire value chain.

In a representative multi-partner supply chain setup, the demonstrator shows how:
✅ wafers, dies and modules are uniquely linked via #DigitalTwins
✅ traceability information is securely shared across partners via #EDC
✅ failures can be traced back to the exact #wafer position
✅ forward and backward tracing enable precise impact #analysis

And the impact is significant:
➡️ without traceability: Risk of recalling whole lots with thousands of chips
➡️ with digital traceability: only a handful of units need to be recalled
👉 Less mass recall. More precision. Better decisions.

If you want to see our Tracability demonstrator practically interact in the semiconductor industry,
visit us at HANNOVER MESSE 2026, date 20.4.2026 -24.4.2026 at Hall A13, the world’s leading industrial tech fair 💪

#Demonstrator: PCF Determination for a SIP-Modul (Chiplets) as sample device in Mini-Supply Chain 🚀

Our Application Cluster 3 Team #Sustainability in the Semiconductor-X project is turning ecological sustainability in the #semiconductor industry into something
➡️ measurable,
➡️ comparable and
➡️ actionable.

To demonstrate this in practice, a representative mini supply chain is being set up among project partners, using an exemplary System-in-Package (SiP) flow for heterogeneous integration.

👉 We’re excited to share ongoing activities from the SEMICONDUCTOR-X project, demonstrating how the Catena-X “One-Up-One-Down” Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) exchange mechanism can be put into practice for supply chain carbon accounting.

To bring this to life, we’ve set up a representative mini supply chain among project partners that reflects key stages of semiconductor manufacturing. In this use case, we focus on heterogeneous integration within an exemplary System-in-Package (SiP) production flow and showcase how PCF data can be exchanged between the involved actors.

This work demonstrates how standardized #PCF data sharing can significantly improve transparency, interoperability, and scalability of carbon accounting across complex semiconductor value chains.
Owners: Franz Wenninger and Fraunhofer EMFT team

Stay tuned for more insights as we continue to drive practical Catena-X implementations in the electronics sector.
We give a first #DEMO and showcase at our booth HANNOVER MESSE 2026 (April 20–24) at Hall 13 C24, the world’s leading industrial tech fair.

#Demonstrator: Maintenance Logbook 🚀

With our demonstrator Maintenance Logbook, we are taking a pivotal step to overcome one of the big challenges in cross-company service: fragmented documentation.

The use case developed by Bosch, DAS Environmental Expert GmbH, Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden and algorismic gmbh showcases the solution.

🔧 A digital Maintenance Logbook turns an on-site service visit into a fully connected workflow:
✅ A digital service report is documented in the standardized AAS format
✅ instantly exchanged via EDC
✅ and kept up to date across all systems
✅ A connected ecosystem that enables predictive maintenance and continuous process optimization

💬 Marcel Gruschwitz explains the impact of the solution:
“With this implementation, we are strengthening the foundation for predictive maintenance and long-term sustainability across our manufacturing network. It demonstrates our capability for secure and standardized cross company data exchange and enables continuous optimization of processes and resource efficiency — fully aligned with our ambition to shape the future of manufacturing.”
— Marcel Gruschwitz, Use Case Optimization of Subfab/grey room through control approaches → #SemiconductorX

🏭 Our subfab facilities will be more efficient, more transparent, and ready for the future. 🤝

🎉 We’re excited to give a first #DEMO and showcase at our booth HANNOVER MESSE 2026 (April 20–24) at Hall 13 C24, the world’s leading industrial tech fair.
Looking forward to sharing more insights there.
