Danke an Heiko Weckbrodt für den guten und anschaulichen Überblick

We are happy and proud to share a key highlight from our research project SEMICONDUCTOR-X: we have successfully reached Milestone 2!

As already shared on Monday August 11th the team of the project presented their results for Milestone 2 in a midterm presentation sharing our status and results. We were honored to welcome delegates from the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy and VDI Technologiezentrum the 300mm Fab of our host Bosch.
The meeting ended on a high note with a visit to the clean room of Bosch’s fab, which provided an impressive insight into chip manufacturing and the production processes involved. 🚀

Thank you to all partners and visitors for the constructive exchange and continued support. This milestone underscores our strong partnership across public and industry stakeholders and marks a decisive point for the project in the transition from the conceptual phase to the implementation phase. 👏

The SEMICONDUCTOR-X consortia held its midterm presentation for “Milestone 2”

The SEMICONDUCTOR-X consortia held its midterm presentation for “Milestone 2” on Monday August 11th and we shared our status and results to BMWE Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie and VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH in Dresden

💥 Thanks to Bosch and Octavio Trovarelli for hosting this midterm meeting in the Bosch 300mm Fab.

Starting with a Welcome from Harald Gossner and Ernst Stöckl-Pukall in the beginning and an overview on Bosch in Dresden by Octavio we straight moved to our project review and achievements:

1️⃣ Key updates on dataspace development from AP2 presented by Haris Avgoustinos and Per-Henrik Addicks
2️⃣ Progress and Achievements of our 3 clusters and corresponding use cases
3️⃣ Outlook on now starting AP4 for demonstrators by Franz Wenninger
4️⃣ Key achievements of Semiconductor-X within Manufacturing-X network (AP5) shared by Dirk Reichelt and key progress of project reach-out and communication (AP6) presented by Stefan Benedikt
5️⃣ Highlight finally to share a vision on dataspaces and an outlook for the bigger picture by Haris Avgoustinos

👉 Thanks for the positive wrap up finally by VDI (Christian Kleinhans and Nurullah Isler) and the BMWE (Ernst Stöckl-Pukall)
🚀 After this all earned to get some insights on a line tour, more to come …

An important milestone meeting is on the horizon!

This gathering will showcase the incredible progress we’ve made with Milestone 2 of our SEMICONDUCTOR-X project.

Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly to push the boundaries for the semiconductor industry in adapting the use of innovative technologies like data spaces and Asset Administration Shells. This milestone not only reflects our commitment to innovation but also sets the stage for groundbreaking advancements that will shape the future of the industry.

Do not miss our next steps in our mission to revolutionize the semiconductor landscape. Stay tuned for updates and insights from the meeting! 🚀🔬

SEMICONDUCTOR-X was present at Silicon Saxony Day

SEMICONDUCTOR-X was present at Silicon Saxony Day on June 17th, 2025, at  Dresden Airport  – the international high-tech and networking event!

Silicon Saxony Day 2025 was an event where innovation meets inspiration:
🎯 More than 1000 participants
🎯 130+ exhibitors
🎯 50+ speakers
🎯 35% international participants
Semiconductor-X was presented by Prof. Dr. Dirk Reichelt from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden with a talk on: “Semiconductor-X Dataspace: Concepts, Benefits, and Use Cases”

Key Messages and Highlights:
🔐 Trusted data exchange needs more than technology
Secure and trustworthy data sharing in dataspaces requires not only robust technical standards but also clearly defined organizational agreements to protect the intellectual property (IP) of participating companies.

🧪 Testbeds as a gateway to innovation
To evaluate the potential of technologies like Eclipse Dataspace Components (EDC) and the Asset Administration Shell (AAS), companies need access to safe and practical test environments. Our Semiconductor-X testbed provides an ideal foundation for experimentation and early adoption.

🎓 Data literacy for the next generation
Future professionals in the semiconductor industry should engage early with concepts such as data spaces, AAS, and digital sovereignty. Project partners like HTW Dresden are well positioned to support this by enabling students to use and share data in a secure, sovereign, and value-creating way, fully aligned with the core principles of Manufacturing-X: trust, interoperability and digital value creation.

Thanks to Dirk Reichelt and our Semiconductor-X team for preparing the presentation, Looking forward to find encouraging feedback and insights from you in the comment section.

What are the key objectives that Merck Electronics together with the project partners prioritize in the Semiconductor-X initiative?

In this video, Anja Müsch from Merck Electronics, elaborates on how they are committed to advancing digitalization. Together our goal is to create more resilient, efficient, and sustainable semiconductor value chains throughout Europe.
